Due Colori
 The "two colors" of Due Colori consist of soprano Megan Monaghan, and Daniel Boring, who performs on baroque, classical and romantic guitars, lute, and theorbo. The duo was formed in 1998 in Ithaca, New York while both performers were attending the Ithaca College School of Music. Later that year, they made their European Debut in Lucca, Italy.Ms. Monaghan has received rave reviews for her interpretation of lyric coloratura roles including Cunegonde in Candide, Clomiri in Imeneo, Abigail in  The Crucible, Micaëla in Carmen, Musetta in La Bohème, Eve in Eve’s Odd’s, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia, as well as Gilda in Rigoletto. She has performed at leading opera companies throughout the United States and Europe including Cincinnati Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Pacific, Opera Theatre of Lucca, Dayton Opera, Eugene Opera, Festival Euro Mediterraneo, Madison Opera, and Lyric Opera Cleveland. Ms. Monaghan has been awarded first place honors in such solo competitions as the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions of both the Southern Ohio and Southern California districts, Agnes Fowler Competition and the Klose-Seybold Opera Competition. She was nominated by Glimmerglass Opera to be the 2004 recipient of the Richard F. Gold Career Grant. Megan Monaghan is a master’s graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Barbara Honn.  Daniel Boring made his European debut as classical guitar soloist in 1995 in Rome, Italy and returned to Italy on return engagements in 1996 and 1998. Most recently, Mr. Boring has been immersed in the music of the seventeenth century, where his focus has been as a continuo player on the 14-course theorbo and baroque guitar. He has served as Executive Director of the newly formed Baroque orchestra "Cincinnati Baroque" whom has been received well by both critics and audiences alike. He has also contributed to contemporary music by commissioning works by new composers, and by transcribing existing works from diverse media. Daniel Boring is currently the director of classical guitar studies at the Montgomery County College and is also a faculty member at Muhlenberg College. In addition, Mr. Boring serves on the string faculty of the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia where he teaches chamber music and applied lessons.Due Colori's extensive range of musical styles span music from the renaissance to the present day including recently commissioned works. Most recently, the duo released their CD "Irish Airs and Ballads," a collection of nineteenth-century Irish songs for voice and guitar, as well as Irish influenced compositions for guitar solo. This was followed up by performances in Ireland in the summer of 2003. Due Colori maintains a busy concert career throughout the United States and Europe. |
